Story

quote:

If Saints fans did a survey on who their second favorite team is, my guess is it would be the Pittsburgh Steelers. With its blue collar image, black and gold jerseys, and highly passionate fan base, it is easy to identify similarities between the Steelers and Saints-and the towns they represent. There are obviously great differences between Pittsburgh and New Orleans, but from a football fan comparison scale you can just about say that Pittsburgh is New Orleans North, even though the Steelers have won six Lombardi Trophies to the Saints one.

Another common denominator between the Steelers and Saints is they have each found themselves in NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's doghouse for not exactly following the rules of good sportmanship that the NFL wants to show it projects. Goodell has fined Steelers bad boy linebacker James Harrison heavily fines multiple times for leading with the helmet, while the giving the Saints more severe individual and team and individual penalties for the alleged intent to injure opposing players and the cover up that followed it. Different consequences, but the Saints and Steelers have each felt Goodell's heavy hand of discipline for getting a "D" in conduct.

I have no other favorite team. But if I had to watch another NFL team, it would be the team that plays Dallas. I hate Dallas.

Kansas City is my #2, but if I had to pick a top 5 favorites the Steelers would be in there for sure.

Plus, they are my go to superbowl team when they make it.

I got one team I like, and 31 others that I all hate equally.

Hahaha. Hey I'm just saying lol. I understand the would-be correlation between the two teams though.

I think we're closer to the Lions, honestly.
And they're probably my second favorite team.

I like the Packers, too.

I truly don't give a shite about any other team other than the Saints, but the outsider I've grown to respect is New England because of the similarities to our program.

High character locker room.
High work ethic & professionalism throughout the roster.
Plenty of elite stars, who put in over-time work to perfect craft.
Elite coaches & F.O that always field a contender.
Super Bowl winners, and annually Super Bowl contenders.
Hit hard by NFL due to a scandal.

Plus, both cities are historically rich, Boston natives even have a unique accent as do New Orleanians, and you could even argue their waterfront Faneuil Hall is similar to the NOLA's riverfront French Market.

If you actively root for any other team alongside the Saints, I question your dedication. I've learned that fans with multiple NFL teams are usually bandwagon people. They'll like the Saints now, but when they list their favorite teams as the New York Yankees, Kentucky basketball, the Miami Heat (or Thunder- they are huge fans of both and can't decide who they like more), it tells me that the second Brees retires, they'll chose their backup plan.

yeah steelers are in my top 3 most hated even though I really like Tomlin

I usually pull for whatever team has had the longest suffering history that makes the playoffs if the Saints aren't in the mix.

Add in, Sean Payton & Bill Belichick are both viewed as villains nationally.

The only other team I have ever really liked is Houston, both the Oilers and the Texans.
