What places would you eat at and what places would you avoid eating at on Government St.?

For me, Bistro Byronz, Superior Grill, Does, Cains (although I'm not sure after they were just robbed)seem good.

Oriental Pearl scares me too much... eyeballed my dog a little too hard. Also, Jack in the Box (general rule of thumb) and Sonic may induce stomach implosions.

Giamanco's and Phil's Oyster Bar are two of my favorites.

Oriental Pearl is real good, we probably get takeout from there twice a month. I'm also a big fan of Doe's and Fleur de Lis. Superior is OK, it's really a better place to drink. China One is good too.
I was a big fan of Roman's, until someone stole my debit card numbers from there.

Giamanco's had the glass jewelry dessert display. They had the best spaghetti and meatballs ever.

Go check out the lovely carhops at Sonic.

Alas, I was attempting a little humor. Giamanco's and Phil's were two long standing institutions in Baton Rouge for generations, and both have closed in the past 10 years or so. I'm not sure of their exact closing dates. I've been out of Baton Rouge for 20 years or so, but I miss some of the old places.

I had my first fried frog legs at Giamanco's and my first oyster poboy at Phil's!

Phil's

Phil's moved off college to that doomed restaurant location by the hobby lobby, then they shut down..this was some time ago (7-8 yrs)
