In Destin or the surrounding area? What kind of food and what price range are you considering?

About 350 other threads in the past year about this same topic.

Although it is a "chain" I really enjoy Tommy Bahama's. Also Cantina Laredo. Both are located at Grand Boulevard (outskirts of Sandesitn area).

The Back Porch is my favorite place on the beach. The food is decent but the location makes it.

Love the burgers at Hartell's.

Breakfast at Broken Egg.

ETA: Fixed link.

Fat Clemenza's for pizza and other Italian favorites.

Vin Tij, had a few nice meals here last fall. Has a wine store next door and no corkage.

Prefer in Destin and I don't care for chains. Prefer mom and pop. Price reasonable, family of 4. Older kids.

Dewey Destin's by the bridge gets good reviews...locals have bragged on it to me. La Lagnaippe is a nice dinner spot. If you go to The Back Porch, and we do like it for a very casual spot, go very early or very late...the crowds are killer. La Paz, a local Mexican joint, gets good press, but I haven't been.

There are many places but from a local point of view, if the family just wants a burger for a quick meal, go to TOPS Burgers. Recently voted #1 burger in the area. Drive thru only.

Back Porch for the location as well as decent food.

McGuires is an obvious pick. The prime rib is good and they've now opened a pizza place next door that's about as close to New York style pizza as you'll get around there.

I love Tommy B's. The key lime pie is delish and the ribs are great.

Back Porch is good but always damn crowded/impossible to get into during summer. I'm talking 2-3 hour waits. Even when I've been to Destin in the fall it's a 1 hour wait.

I've heard the restaurants in Baytowne Wharf are good.

Frick Dewey Destin's. We had reservations and made us wait an hour. The hostess was being a smart arse to my dad; he told her off and we left .

Any other recommendations? We are going for a week over the 4th of July. Meeting up with some extended family there and the adults want to go out one night without the kids.

Better get reservations if you're going 4th of July week. We went 6 years ago that week and it was hell to pay to get in anywhere. You should make reservations or cook in some nights.

The boat house is a great little hole in the wall on the bay. Kinda by AJs.
Also have to go to Ciao Bella for a pizza.

We plan on cooking in the majority of the time. The going out to eat certainly isn't my choice, but the extended family cousins want to go since we never get to see them. We shall see
