A sac-a-lait/bass hybrid? Caught this behind my house this evening..i usually just catch a few perch and a few gar fish. I thought it was some type of bream at first but the mouth and color resemble a bass.

Also caught about 15 of these in my perch hole

Gotcha..i dont fish freshwater much, but i have a drainage ditch behind my house. It runs from a slip off the intracoastal to a pond in the neighbor hood. Ive chased some bass in it but there isnt very much water sometimes.

Everyone above is correct, Goggle-Eye, or Rock Bass, also heard 'em called warmouths. They have a large enough mouth that they will hit bass baits. Tough fighting buggers too!

ETA: And thats a small one, I've caught some approching 1.5 pounds...

They are fun to catch on ultra lite gear. They fight good for their size and are aggressive. I catch them all the time on bass gear.
