Anyone ever make pear wine/brandy?

I've never made wine but I was at my mom's old house this past weekend and noticed that her pear trees are just loaded down with pears that are maybe a week away from optimum ripeness. Three trees with probably near a thousand pears. No one lives there and I hate to just leave them for the squirrels. Any advice or good websites that walk you through this?
