I have not personally made one, however my wife made me a paracord watch band to fit my Suunto Core. She says the braid she used is called a flat braid. I like it a lot. Fits well and I have about 10 feet of 550lb cord wherever I go. 
I told her I would like to have a sling made for my Ruger 10/22 and she told me it would take a couple months.

True. This one kid at summer camp went to rehab because he couldn't stop making friendship bracelets. After that, halfway house. Then straight to heroin. Sad.

I made a sling for my 22. It really doesn't take that long, just takes some patience.

You could probably make a little sling for your balls just in case you need to show them to someone in a hurry.
