I think he's saying what pretty much all of us on this board have been saying. There was no pay for injury. We simply were targeted by Goodell for his effort to show in suit cases that he is doing something about safety in the NFL. In the end I think it's quite clear Goodell is the one that stepped over the line and has attempted to injure.

Shanle openly admits to receiving payments. Does he get nailed with a penalty now, too? Adolf said there as many as 27 players involved at one point yet only 4 were penalized. Why were the other 23 dismissed?

He admits to paying as well for good plays.

So what?

There was a pool where good plays got rewarded. Some players won, some players lost.

But what did they win or lose?

There own damn money.

And, given the amounts involved (compared to what these guys make and have on the line), this really amounts to NOTHING. It's like college players getting a star on their helmet for a good play, or a $10 Nassau bet with your friends on the golf course.

There is no proof that they were paid to make illegal or career/season-ending hits. Why? Cuz it didn't happen. The NFL can't show one "dirty" play. They show Favre getting the shite knocked out of him -- on clean plays. They show Warner getting clocked on an interception -- which was about as clean as could be and even Warner said he had no complaints about the hit.

So, what does the NFL have -- a series of lawsuits against them for hiding the extent of the damage caused by concussions ... and the need to find a scapegoat they can use in court and in the minds of the public.

In the days immediately after the probe, the Saints quickly distanced themselves from Williams. Team officials essentially tried to portray him as a rogue agent during the investigation. Former Saints linebacker Scott Fujita and quarterback Drew Brees did likewise when they conspired with filmmaker Sean Pamphilon and NFLPA officials to release the audio tape of Williams' infamous speech to his defense before the Saints' NFC playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers in January.

Pardon me, but is this some bullshite? Didn't Pamphillon's bitch arse go to them knowing that as members of the players union they would HAVE to say something...

Correct me if I'm wrong...But if I'm right, why does the media do dumb shite like this?

This article pretty much explains why the NFL is full of it.

The problem with that "Fan's Perspective" is that Shanle openly admitted to receiving payments. Either way the NFL's case DOES seem to be riddled with holes in it.

This mofo has a major boom waiting for the Saints if they cut him...only logical reason he's still on the team.

that's against the CBA, and thus subject to penalty.

Are other teams being investigated or just the Saints? You're kidding yourself if you don't think similar stuff doesn't exist elsewhere. Does this seriously warrant 77 games worth of suspenions?

i agree as to the players.

I think the coaching staff left the league no choice but to drop the hammer when they knowingly let it go on after they knew they were being investigated.

No, not less illegal but if nobody else suffers for their actions it makes it far less fair doesn't it? If SAFETY is actually the issue as Adolf claims it is then he would pursue the rest of the league. You with me here?

and none of the coaches who were suspended have challenged what they were suspended for.

is that not telling?

They appealed and lost.

Anyway it's not telling because coaches don't really have much recourse. Their union is pretty much powerless.

Coach Vitt has said "We're being punished for the spoken word and not the clinched fist." He really didn't go into more detail than that.

The coaches don't really have anything to gain from speaking out. They know the league is trying to position itself in a good light for the lawsuits that are coming, and they're dependent on the league for their meal ticket. They're trying to appear serious about player safety. So they'll name this pay for performance program a "bounty program" to make it seem malicious in nature. This is the same league that's trying to extend the season to 18 games. If they were really serious about player safety, they wouldn't be pushing that.

Make no mistake, this is about the lawsuits.
