Talk about zombies and a possible zombie apocalypse has increased due to recent gory accounts of drug-induced, flesh-eating attacks in the news.

Do you have your Zombie Ammo???

Notice what the article says:
quote:

In promoting the product on their website, Hornady suggests, “Be PREPARED – supply yourself for the Zombie Apocalypse with Zombie Max ammunition from Hornady! Loaded with PROVEN Z-Max bullets… MAKE DEAD PERMANENT!”

Now look at Harnady's website.
They changed the wording to include VARMINTS:
quote:

Be prepared for Zombiegeddon...when VARMINTS ATTACK! Just in Case… Get Loaded with Z-MAX™ Bullets and PREPARE to "Mist"ify Zombie Varmints!

Harnady doing some CYA in case somebody uses their ammo to dispatch one of those "zombie" flesh eaters running around.

Hmmmm. I just looked up the Zombie Max bullet and it has more FPS and Energy than a Federal Hydra-Shok.

I like this Zombie Warning: This is Live Ammunition. This is not a toy.

For 40 S&W: Hornady 165gr 1045/400
For 40 S&W: Hydra-Shok 165gr 980/352

I thought it was pure marketing at first. But the ballistics seem to point in a different direction. I am a firm believer in ballistic information. Specifically: Velocity, Energy, and Ballistic Coefficient.

No doubt, but it IS marketing. Do you really need those ballistics? Enough to pay the premium? I've known people who went target shooting with zombie ammo. Zombie targets, too. ZOMG!!!!

From what I can tell, it's just critical defense ammo with a green tip (and about $2-$3 cheaper). I have been buying the Z-max for personal defense ammo just to save a couple of bucks.

ETA: sorry didn't see the previous posts.

A few weeks ago the Z-max was actually cheaper when I bought some at BPS. Ofcourse this was before face eating became popular...

How you like it? I have just stuck with the good ol' Federal bullets as they are much cheaper to shoot at the range. I have a few boxes of the Remington HD. I always thought this stuff was just for shits and giggles, like a collector thing.
