Finally someone that covers LSU has done a little work. The newspaper guys should be ashamed and it is no wonder they are going out of business left and right.

But Troy University has no record Forrest ever completed the program.

In a statement, Cliff Lusk with media relations for the university said, "According to our records, he did not receive a masters. He did take classes, but he did not complete the requirements for graduation."

News 2 asked the LSU Athletic Department for Forrest's resume and an on camera interview. We wanted to know if Forrest had listed a masters from Troy in his resume given to LSU, what type of background checks, if any, LSU performs with new hires, and if Forrest was forced out.

None of it was answered, and in an emailed statement, LSU Senior Associate Athletic Director Herb Vincent said, "as stated in the press release issued Monday, Coach Forrest has resigned for personal reasons and LSU has no further comment.

It's over ...

If anyone here needs closure, maybe think about getting a dog or a cat.

I agree with the digging by the media, and I also agree with the stonewalling from LSU's side.

I like that the WBRZ guys are doing their job and trying to find answers for us. I also like that we aren't throwing Forrest under the bus and are allowing him to exit the situation as gracefully as possible.

I don't have a big problem with LSU covering for Forrest. Although it is hypocritical of them to issue a press release saying John Isaac did not meet his academic obligations, but allow Forrest a graceful exit.

Forrest was dishonest, Isaac was not.

I have four kittens if anyone would like to have one or all. For free of course.

When will people in coaching realize that you cant get away with adding degrees to your resume without having them?

You needed a reporter to tell you this?

We've all heard the rumor, but this is the first confirmed report from a media source.

So, I did not need it, but I welcome good reporting.

Seriously though why would you put a Master's degree from Troy on your resume, even if you had one!!

If he lied I get why he had to go. I also understand why LSU is trying to keep it a secret.

My question is: Is an assistant basketball coach required to have a masters degree in order to coach?

If no, then why lie about it.

LSU is blowing Johnny Jones so hard right now, whoever he suggests is going to be hired, so why lie.

It's not required, so I don't know why he lied to begin with. This lie was started way before Forrest even knew Johnny Jones. He has just kept repeating it. At least two other schools, North Texas and Arkansas State, didn't catch it.

I guess that is one of those lies that will never go away until you get the degree.

So I guess LSU and Jones will get a pass. Just does not look good. I questioned the Johnny Jones hire to begin with and now he has lost one of his top recruiters. Not good.

Kind of wonder if any college schools do background checks on any new coach hirings. Usually academics is not an issue but your character is. Tell a lie often enough you begin to believe it. I'm sure they would know if they were a child molester. Seems they could find out everything else as well. Some things never cease to amaze me. It's not like it would have taken extra effort to see if the guy had a masters degree? WTF? Guess no one really cares.

Agree, why lie when the master's isn't required? Goes to dumbness; maybe that's really why he was fired

Or maybe he actually doesn't have a bachelors degree either!

LSU screwed up and got caught. It amazes me that people think they can get away with this. NCAA should put a life time ban on this person.

So one is covering for a dishonest person, thus he is not dishonest.
