I'm not talking about in certain situations, but can he be a legit 3? The more I watch him, the more I think he can. Am I fooling myself?

in his recent practice sessions he has been working out at the 3 because he wants to show his versatility but he isn't there yet

Can Monty coach him up on that side of the ball, or is it a lost cause?

With his length and lateral quickness you don't think he can guard NBA 3's? Dude is pretty much a 6-11 version of Paul George without the range George has.

PJ III probably will be the 5th best player in this draft.

I think he can be coached up on defense, but it's going to take a lot of patience on that end. He defended bigs in college in a zone-heavy defense. Really hard to judge his potential there because of his position at Baylor.

Not comparing the 2 in talent, but because of his length, Kevin Durant is played at 3 and 4, depending on the match ups. I think the same would happen with Perry.

PJ3 could be an upgrade over Aminu, but bringing him on would definitely leave little room for Trevor Ariza. There just aren't enough minutes to go around. He'd have to be traded immediately.

I think that is why they'd lean to Sullinger, because he fills a need with the loss of Carl Landry. The big butt lane driver...

Sullinger is like an $8 million dollar cheaper version of Big Carl.

I think PJ3 is the better player by far, but he doesn't fit on our team because of the contracts we currently hold. Sad when that gets in the way.

Projects for this year would be, in the order of longest contract to shortest:
1. Find someone to take Emeka, and his contract. (2 years left)
2. Get SOMETHING for Ariza. (1 year + 1 year player option)
3. Get SOMETHING for Jack. (1 year left)

If you can do 1, you take Tyler Zeller.
If you can do 2, you take Perry Jones, if he is still there.
If you can do 3, you take Kendall Marshall/Damian Lillard.

if you can accomplish none of these tasks, you replace one of the players you are losing.... Kaman/Zeller, Landry/Sulllinger

I think this regime is set to plug holes until the big money is off the books, then hit free agency like madmen.

Anyone know a gimpy kneed Point Guard, that loves New Orleans and especially Monty, that is a free agent after this season?

I dont think so. He's not very skilled.

He's not a good ballhandler or shooter and can't create his own shot off the dribble. So, I don't know what he does for you offensively right now, outside of transition buckets.

I think he has a better shot at being an athletic 4 and developing a decent post game than he does at turning into a guy who can handle the ball on the perimeter and shoot.

He is a good ballhandler, he isn't a great one. On offense he is a guy who will take 4's off the dribble and post up 3's. Ultimately he is a guy who can become an improved shooter with length that makes him a match-up nightmare.

True, but that's been sayed about him since high school. And he didn't get any better in two years of college ball. Still have the same questions being asked about him

I think because Monty is our coach, PJ3 will be able by his second year to be a legit 3. Most other coaches I'd say no way he could convert.

To me, it depends on his handles, which I have no clue about with him. If he can't put the ball on the floor consistently and confidently, then no way can he play the 3.

So basically Tyrus Thomas then. No thanks.

Monty can magically make guys better ball handlers?
Ball handling is pretty much God given. Sure you can do drills and improve, but you can't drastically change that skill set. It's in the DNA.
