Have a buddy doing a chill bachelor party in Pensacola on Santa Rosa Island. Thinking about bringing a few kayaks to fish for kings, smacks, jacks etc. in the mornings.
Figured I could launch bay side, bring medium-light tackle, small steel leaders, spoons and soft plastics and fish the nervous bait.
Do I have the right idea? Decent king fishing in the area?

Deacon could probably help you out. He goes there quite a bit and does well.

I know that the Spanish Mackeral are biting. Probably kings too. We have done really well on the Specks lately and have hooked a couple of redfish too.

Don't expect to catch the number of fish you do in Louisiana though. It just doesn't happen. Louisiana is teeming with so many fish it is ridiculous.

Good luck to y'all. We will be fishing Escambia Bay (Pensacola area) again this week.

Y'all be safe and have a blast.

I guess if they are biting well you could use a spoon. Most people use a balloon as a float (with a little water in it to aid in casting) with a cigar minnow under it. People use gotchas to catch Spanish. What the hell. You're on vacation -- try everything in your tackle box and enjoy the time out there. We have been having a ball.
