Don't know if Germans or not, looks like Raphs great season isn't being rewarded as most thought it should be, so I guess they better go out and reward him by WINNING it all!
Finalist are:
Zunino
Rodon
Appel

How does it work? Nominees are announced, but winners are not. Was Gausman in the released names?

Why would the guy from the best baseball conference batting over .400 get the gold spikes? That would make to much sense.

Because he has one plus tool and four average or below average tools

He went into a slump at the wrong time of the season. He dropped from .500 to .460

That is just too dreadful for any voter to forget about.

That NC State freshman must be REALLY good. Haven't seen him play.

9-0, 1.61 ERA, 2 Complete Games, 132 K, 41 BB, 111.2 IP, Opp BA is only .181

So yeah, he deserves to be on there

Golden Spikes loses credibility with Zunino on the list. In his own conference, Stratton was Pitcher of the Year and Rhymes was Player of the Year. Zunino hit about .250 in the SEC. His only great stat is 18 homers and 13 of those were hit in non-conference games. Vandy stole 6 bases on him in one inning.

No doubt about it, Zunino didn't play as well as Rhymes did in 2012. But I guess they didn't care about that.

Yea. Zunino lessens the lists. But, he really isn't in the running for the award and neither is Raph. The stats above prove who this should go to.

1. This is a college award, how he projects to the next level shouldn't matter.

2. It may be one plus tool, but it is the most important one by far.

In the tourney? They had 8 on him for the game but in one inning?

Clearly they should rename the award "Best MLB prospects" finalists

Yes Zunino is a great pro prospect, and did just get drafted #3 overall...but what does that have to do with his subpar year in the SEC? He hit .255 with 5 home runs in the SEC and as someone else pointed out did allow quite a few base steals on him.

He didn't even win SEC POY yet he's a finalist for the best player in CBB?

Besides, how is ANYONE suppose to throw out 3 people at once? Even if he gets one, he loses two

Appel and the NC ST FR. belong on the list absolutely. Zunino and his play this year is not even close to belonging on a semi-finalist list for this. How the hell does someone have a season like he does and get voted to the Top 3 of all of CBB?

A triple steal and you're the top catcher in the country? LMAO
