I know most people pay monthly as part of their mortgage payment.. just curious if anyone here pays yearly, for whatever reason.

mine is escrowed by lender, unfortunately. I'd like to make a few extra pennies on the interest.

all property taxes are paid annually. You are just paying your mortgage company every month for it.

all good.. im just trying to understand the benefits of holding that money all year and doing something else with it, vs the benefits of paying as part of your mortgage..

If you can invest those monies somewhere and earn a little something then you'd be better off.

some banks give you a higher rate if you don't escrow, regardless of the 20% equity

We do. Just bought our house last August. We just setup a savings account and put $1000 into it every month to cover Insurance, Taxes, and HOA dues.
