I'm from around the Lafayette area and I know the old standbys that are good restaurants. Some have continued to be good, but others... well.

It's been about a year since I've been home at a time where there aren't family things going on, and I'd like to have a meal with mom at a new place that neither of us have been to. We're both adventurous when it comes to food, so just throw some ideas out there that have started being known for good food in the last year or so.

FDB and, thanks in advance for your help.

Couchon, Village Cafe, and Mazen Grill are all excellent suggestions.
French Press is another place I really enjoy.
