Super regional teams by conference:

SEC: 4
Pac-12: 4
ACC: 2
Big-12: 2
Big East: 1
Mountain West: 1
MAC: 1 (Kent is the first ever MAC team to the supers)
America East: 1 (Stony Brook is the first from that conference to make the supers)

**6 of the 16 top seeds/hosts failed to win their regional.

**There are NO conference match-ups in the supers (I like this a lot)

Match ups: (host listed first)

LEFT side of bracket:

Florida-NC State
South Carolina-Oklahoma

Oregon-Kent St.
Baylor-Arkansas

RIGHT side of bracket:

UCLA-TCU
LSU-Stony Brook

Arizona-St John's
Florida St.-Stanford

So out of 16 teams: 2 from the state of NY, 1 from Ohio, 2 from the Pacific Northwest, and 2 from the far Southwest.

Solid. Thanks for posting.

You may want to add all the match-ups just to make a more comprehensive thread.

Also of note, Stony Brook is only the 3rd #4 seed to make the supers since the format started in 1999...the others were Missouri in 2006 and Fresno State in 2008. Missouri would lose 2 in the supers to Cal St. Fullerton...Fresno would beat Arizona St. 2 games to 1 in the supers and go on to win the CWS

Theoretically it could be 4 SEC teams and 4 Pac-12 teams in Omaha

But...But... I thought the ACC was the best conference.

Yeah, but they were no ordinary 4-seed. That was kind of bullshite actually, seeing as how they were ranked #30 before the playoffs, and probably have the highest winning percentage in college baseball over the last 2 years.

The irony is that one of the two teams...Florida St...was everyone's pick to fall on their arse in their own regional since they were playing poorly and Miss. St. was on a roll.

Finally someone who thinks we have a chance. If we don't win the series 2-0 I think we are done though. Assuming Rodon and Ogdon start games 1 and 2. Our pitching sucks after that. They both need to go at least 8 as well.

Another note to add...while Stony Brook is the first American East conference team to make the supers, Maine is in that league as well and they were a perennial power back in the 80's, making the CWS on numerous occasions. However, the American East didn't sponsor baseball until 1988, so Maine was independent.

And good trivia...Maine was the team LSU beat for their first ever CWS win back in 1986.

-----------------------

2. UCLA / TCU
7. LSU / SUNY-Stony Brook

3. FSU / Stanford

No more SEC teams on LSU's side of the CWS bracket...
