NFL - less and less credible on bounties

The NFL is at it again. They continue to claim they have evidence, yet they still won't produce any. Now today according to Profootball Talk, the NFL leaks that they have a ledger with documentation of the bounties paid out. With this leak, the sources mention a specific game against Buffalo in 2009 in which there were bounties paid out for three "cart-offs". One of these was even highlighted for the player being placed on IR. Now here comes the best part. The NFL has now made a second leak to correct their first leak!

Apparently, in stead of just taking the NFL at its word, some people actually checked the records of that game to find out that only one offensive player was injured in that game. With that being the case, the NFL now says the ledger was referring to the game against the Panthers. Of course there was only one injury in that game and the player was on defense, but who's keeping track! The NFL is just not believable on this topic without actually producing the evidence that they have. Another beef I have is that the games being referred to are from 2009. The NFL has already acknowledged that they warned the Saints to stop the program after 2009. The punishments the league handed down were supposed to be for continuing that program. I am tired of this witchhunt!

I am sure ESPN will begin running highlights from those games, and showcase every hard Legal hit and wonder if a bounty was paid.

since ESPN is so big on having former players on their shows now, I'd wish they would get them to go through every questionable play and try explain the players intent on that specific play. I mean they are all about being provocative, that should pull some ratings.

So how does this all end? I have always presumed that Goodell will eventually "settle" rather than being forced to reveal his empty hand but the fact that they are still leaking lies makes me wonder if he won't go down swinging and this gets really ugly between the league and the union.

The NFL is running scared and IMO its NOT bc of the NFLPA. Its all these lawsuits that are piling up!

It would not surprise me if the NFL's great source manufactured this ledger himself. It would be amusing if they leaked this info and just realized it is all bogus!

"There was no such thing as a bounty where anyone put up money to hurt another player," said the person, who spoke to AP on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing and related litigation is pending. "There were stupid names for legitimate plays," the person said, referring to the use of the terms "cart-offs" and "whacks." The person said the payments listed "are for big, clean plays," and that plays which were penalized usually resulted in fines.

Just watched a segment on sportscenter and there was no mention of the inconsistencies between the so called ledger and actual game facts. Classic ESPN! They only report what they want to.
