I'm not going to tell you about the plot at all. frick spoilers. Just my general impressions...
...first of all lower your expectations. This won't be the mindblowing, 10/10 summer blockbuster you've been hoping for. most everyone I talked to (critics aka acne-pocked lardasses that live in their parents basement that the MTVB loves to hate) outside of the theater acknowledged that it was good, but there was a definite air of disappointment and underwhelmed feelings.
But, there are parts that are breathlessly badass. The elements of horror and suspense are all particularly great. You will squirm and be terrified.
Individual accolades:
H. R. Giger
Fassbender
Stringer Bell
I'd give it a 7/10. Solid, but beset by unrealistic expectations that it would melt our brains with its awesomeness. If you can neutralize your expectations you'll have a above-average reaction to it. If you're a hopeless fanboy you'll have conflicted feelings, resignedly able to point out its flaws, but still energized by the fact that a few new wrinkles have emerged in the mythology of the Alien series

If the Aliens kill everyone I will be happy
It's hard not to have high expectations when the trailers are filled with awesome

I've seen other reviews that are about the same. Doesn't affect my enthusiasm for this movie.

I'm excited about this movie but I don't expect it to be the sci-fi movie of the decade or even the year. That hope and expectation goes to Gravity and it is my pick to be the next face melting sci-fi worthy of Kubrick's praise. I read that it opens with a single 16-minute take. JIMP.

I'm looking forward to seeing this. I don't expect it to be as good as the first two Alien films, but it better be an improvement over the rest.

When I saw the same people that produced Alien, produced this one, I felt pretty good about this movie.
Ready to see it!

Sandra Bullock is making this hard to get excited for. I just feel like she will ruin every scene for me.

I never let a casting decision get in the way of expectations

So did it have facehuggers and xenomorphs or not?!

I had a feeling the film would be a disappointment. Ridley Scott still makes films that are beautiful to look at, but he seems to have lost that magic that made him the game changing director of Alien and Blade Runner.

I never understood the hype for this film? I saw the trailer and yeah it looks cool I guess but is there a prometheus book? Is all the hype coming directly from the trailers?

I'm TRYING to temper my expectations as much as possible. but dammit the trailers I've seen just make it look so awesome. And I've been waiting for this movie ever since Scott announced he was working on another Alien film
I can def deal with 7/10.
I kinda expect I'll feel the same as after I saw the new Predators. It was enough to satiate me, but it didn't quite meet my expectations

I kinda figured it wouldn't be groundbreaking or anything. Still really pumped though. Just need to go in with tempered expectations and I'll probably be happy
Thanks for the honest review
