Thoughts on the bands members, the music and how did you like the first release?
Them Crooked Vultures

I am big Josh Homme fan and upon hearing about this band I had my doubts. The very first song, the very first time I heard it I knew this was great stuff. The word stoney blues comes to mind to describe the band. I don't keep up with music news but I sure hope they release more material and I wish other top musicians(if their or others please name drop) mixed it up like TCV have.

I turned my TV on last night and it was already on Paladia. I looked for 2 seconds and thought 'damn, that old dude looks like John Paul Jones' I quickly realized Grohl on the drums and started listening.

Recognized New Fang and yes, I enjoy them very much. JPJ still jams great, and I always thought Grohl was better on drums than he is on guitar.

badass thanks. I'm going to check them out and report back after work. For now I'm trolling the white people don't listen to rap thread on the OT

I am actually suprised more people have not responed/heard of them.
Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal, Kyuss) John Paul Jones(Led Zep) and Dave Grohl(Nirvana, Foo Fighters)

Stoney Blues Metal with touches of classic rock

Debut album is self titled and came out in 2009. Not a bad song on the album as for as I am concerned. New Fang was their only radio hit as for as I know.

This track Elephants jumps out right away on the album.

damn, I'm excited now. I just fell into the supergroup middle brother and love their whole album. Can't wait to check this out.

Texas - I can't help myself. The amount of dumb in that thread is awesome.

was lucky enough to catch them in ATL 2 yrs ago and it was freaking killer - JPJ had a solo on the keys that had me mezmorized.

they also had a rhythm guitarist playing w/ them to make the sound fuller (and that dude was a freakin bad arse too)

thought they were coming out w/ another album but haven't heard when

No, a great song from the album.

@stoov- I wonder who the rhythm guitarist was... maybe Alain Johannes or Mark Lanegan.

JPJ truly supriesed me with how well he still can play both bass and hit keys. Very very well done for this album.

This just seems like a one time project they did for fun. Grohl likes to jam with other musicians to take a break from Foo Fighters. He did a metal album called Probot and has a song on Tony Iommi's solo album. I'm looking forward to the Sound City album as well.
