Anyone have good After Effects Tutorials?

Cant find what I need on youtube. Perhaps i'm searching wrong? I figured out how to add the text to different areas of a gif (duh), but I cannot figure out how to edit an animated gif like changing someones face with another jpg, etc. Also cant use some of the tools like eraser even in the composition; it's like i'm painting with black instead of erasing.
TIA for any help.

What I do is make all of my cut outs (faces or whatever) in Photoshop first or Gimp if that is what you use. Then I import those files into After Effects as .png files, this will save their transparency. When you see the black color in After Effects when you or erasing it is actually transparency you are seeing. While you erase you are in the "layers" panel. If you click the tab at the top of the layers panel next to it that says composition you will be back in the composition panel once there toggle the checkerboard icon at the bottom center of the panel and you will see where you erased is now showing you the familiar checkerboard patten where you have erased. Hope this helps some. I may make a strictly "fark" workflow tutorial in the near future that shows exactly what I do 99% of the time to make my personal gifs. I takes some time to get past the learning curve. I encourage you to cram all the tutorials you can into your head so you will become comfortable with this awesome software.

Thanks GOP. It's definetely a different world going from GIMP to AE. I edited a "face" in GIMP and saved (not as a .png, good call to save the transparency thanks). Seems as if alot of the better tutorials are pay ones, and not sure I really want/need to do that when there is a great big internet out there, LOL.
It seems as if the tool I need to use is the Rotobrush tool based on another video I just watched. Now if I can figure out how to load that one, maybe i'll try it and see.
Will keep plugging along. Thanks again.

go to your favorite torrent site. Search for "lynda.com after effects" those are the best in my opinion. They teach you about all aspects of the software. For effects go to Videocopilot.net lots of free tutorials on effects and stuff.

Will search for some of those now. Didnt even think of looking for torrents for those lynda videos, *facepalm*. Thanks again!

I agree.
Soonerpsycho also recommended this a while back and it's a good starting off point.
