I've always known the basic story, but it was nice to be able to learn more about him. Thanks for posting

We are so blessed. Fighting for your life at that age. God bless all our current troops and veterans who are fighting and fought for this country.

i always get a kick out of the regal way they describe two people banging in the 1930s .. :

quote:

During this time he met Earle Hubert, an attractive young student from Plaquemine, Louisiana, and they developed a close relationship.

So this clarifies it. IT IS ALEX with an X not a C. ALEX is short for ALEXANDER, not ALECANDER. Somebody please tell Hawthorne this!

There is no excuse for you to turn this thread in that direction.

How Alex Box behaved while a student at LSU who knows (and I have serious doubts that you do) but all indications are that he was a man of worth and honor.

So why not commemorate his ultimate sacrifice on Memorial Day and keep your sordid thoughts in your sordid mind?

Well said AlwysATgr. I couldn't agree with you more.
Excellent article. Filled in some blanks about his life for me. Thanks for posting this.
