2011 MLB Draft class has been very impressive in the early going

I can't remember the last time where so many of the players chosen in the top half of the first round were doing so well right off the gate.
1. Gerrit Cole- 45 innings pitched, 32 hits allowed, 46 strikeouts, 13 walks, 2.60 ERA, 1.00 WHIP at Advanced-A Bradenton
2. Danny Hultzen- 56.2 innings pitched, 30 hits allowed, 61 strikeouts, 27 walks, 1.59 ERA, 1.01 WHIP at AA Jackson
3. Trevor Bauer- 67.1 innings pitched, 44 hits allowed, 84 strikeouts, 36 walks, 1.74 ERA, 1.19 WHIP between AA Mobile and AAA Reno
4. Dylan Bundy- 30 innings pitched, 5 hits allowed, 40 strikeouts, 2 walks, 0.00 ERA, 0.23 WHIP at Class A Delmarva, was recently promoted to Advanced-A Frederick
7. Archie Bradley- 50 innings pitched, 24 hits allowed, 51 strikeouts, 29 walks, 3.06 ERA, 1.06 WHIP at Class A South Bend
8. Francisco Lindor- 4 homeruns, 19 RBIs, 11 stolen bases, .293 batting average, .341 OBP, .435 slugging percentage, .776 OPS as an 18-year-old in Class A Lake County
11. George Springer- 10 homeruns, 38 RBIs, 12 stolen bases, .314 batting average, .362 OBP, .572 slugging percentage, .934 OPS at Advanced-A Lancaster
And among the four players selected in the top 10 that I haven't mentioned, three of them (Rendon, Starling, Baez) are either in extended spring training or have had a very limited amount of bats. Cory Spangenberg is the only player in the top 10 with solid playing time that hasn't been impressive and he's still hitting .284 with 16 stolen bases. It's surprising how so many players are doing so well already. You would expect a few of the high draft picks to struggle early on but that hasn't been the case so far.

They thought the way he threw and his weird antics would mess his arm up later on down the road while Gerrit Cole was the more solidly built pitcher

Five future #1 starters right there. Not bad at all.
Bundy looks to have a fricking unbelievable future.

Rendon will be a solid third baseman but has to get rid of the injury bug.
And Starling is a star in waiting. Very athletic kid and it is just tougher for a position player at his age to make an early name for themselves...unless your name is Bryce Harper
This may be one of the best classes in a very long time

Bauer has walked 36 in 67 IP? lolz. I hope the Dbacks call him up soon. My Giants could use some more wins.

So excited for Bundy, and Machado for that matter.

Springer may actually be a decent player. needs to cut down a bit on strikeouts but his tools project big time. Hopefully he gets pushed to AA by end of season and we see him in Houston end of 2013 for a Summer call up and then compete for a starting spot 2014

The runners do not make it home though. Anyway, it is not like the Giants could hit then home.

Hultzen, Paxton, and Walker... the big 3

Would be nice to be a Mariners fan living in Jackson, Tennessee this year, I'd rather see those 3 than the M's.
Franklin is killing the ball right now too.

The Dbacks pitching staff is going to be unreal in about 3-5 years. I can't wait.

Bundy posted a human-like line in his first start for Frederick, but he got the win even though he allowed more hits in 5 innings than he had allowed in the previous 30.
5 IP, 6 hits, 6 SO, 2 earned runs, 1HR, 0 BB
He still has a .51 ERA in 35 IP though

Good thing. Because the sun isn't shining on the dog's arse this season quite like it was last year for the current Dbacks pitching staff.
