Monty Williams would have his head for accusing the Hornets of "looking like they’re trying when they’re really not." No team did more with less this season than the Hornets; getting 21 wins out of them was quite impressive. I obviously have plenty of other problems with this column than just that line, but I figured I'd start there.

The Cavs didn't even let their rookie Kyrie Irving play out the final few games, yet we lose our only player worth a shite and we're not trying? Give me a break. It must be nice to get paid to be able to write lies.

I tried commenting on the column, not sure if it went through... but this is what I said:
"The main oversight here, in my opinion, is giving credence to the "more than a few observers who felt the Sixers would be better served by missing the playoffs and getting into the draft lottery." Sitting at 31-30, the furthest they could have fallen by tanking their final five games would have been the 11th worst record, with 12th worst being the most likely outcome. It seems far-fetched to suggest that the 76ers should have tanked their final five games in order to acquire a <1% chance at landing the top pick. I believe you when you say that there were people that did, but those people clearly don't understand the concept of risk vs. reward. The same goes for those who were content with the Rockets punting their playoff chances away. I stand by my opinion that I prefer the Hornets' strategy as opposed to becoming a perennial fringe playoff team, but if I was a fan of that fringe playoff team, I wouldn't be rooting for them to "tank" with five games remaining when they were on the playoff bubble.
My main point is this: tanking isn't a strategy that fringe teams should use as the season winds down to sneak into the lottery; going from a 0% chance of the top pick to a .8% chance is absolutely not worth it. Tanking makes far more sense, however, for a bad team that is far out of playoff contention, as that team can increase their lottery odds by a far greater percentage."

I agree with that too. If the Hornets had a chance to make it into the playoffs down the stretch, of course I would want them to try. But we had no shot.
I didn't see if he was a local guy, but why is he picking on our team? We were by far the most competitive of the bottom 7-8

Hornets went 11-11 (with some very close losses) down the stretch after starting off 10-34. Aside from potentially bringing back a few injured players sooner (and risk re-injury) or playing Ariza (wanting to see what Aminu can do is pretty legit), they didn't do any tanking except Q4 of that Houston game.

That guy just randomly made the Hornets his victim. For one thing, I'm not sure the Hornets played more than 3 games with their projected starting lineup. Second, they almost beat the Lakers at Los Angeles with only 8 guys?! They were suffering from injury and were able to compete game after game, even if they didn't win. Look out if they had Okafor and Gordon the whole season. We'd be a playoff team. Yeah, Bernucca, the team wanted to get injured and suffer from a lack of an owner.
