Odds are pretty good that the Houston airport system will allow Southwest Airlines to build a new terminal at Hobby for international flights to south America. Southwest does not currently offer international flights.

They will increase their ticket fees by a couple dollars to pay for terminal expansion.

Good buy? Most likely as long term position. ?

Don't buy airlines. There are plenty of better places to invest.

Even though Southwest has been the only consistently profitable US airline, I suspect they will not do so well on the international routes. But I could be wrong.

Planes not your thing?

I have heard of not investing in airlines, but is it that bad? Seems like abroad index including airlines would be better than one with out airlines.

Not particularly, but SW planes just always feel really crammed.

Diversification for the sake of diversification is not a good strategy.

They'll run into all kinds of issues and the next time they get another hole in their 737...DOT is going to come after them hard.
