National champ: Oregon over LSU
Both teams return a lot of defensive talent from their top-five teams of 2011. Tailbacks Kenjon Barner and De'Anthony Thomas will lead the Ducks' attack. LSU's offense can be only better than last season, and Alabama comes to Baton Rouge this time. Oregon must play at USC, yes, but in the rematch in the Pac-12 championship game, the Trojans' lack of numbers will catch up to them.

Guess they did not learn from last year.

I agree, however it is a long 100 days till kickoff and I need things to fill the days. Their BS happens to be easily accessible.

Oregon isnt made to beat us. We have speed to match theirs on defense. They arent big enough to stop us on offense. We are perfectly designed to beat them. The only team designed to beat us is Bama(last year) TIFWIW

I wasn't criticizing you for posting the information. At all. I've just grown unspeakably weary of ESPN's college football coverage over the last few years. I've been an unnaturally ardent college football fan since I enrolled at LSU in 1994. As such, I've devoted untold hours to watching ESPN. In the late 1990's and early part of this decade, their CFB programming seemed both honest and refreshing. Now, it's trite and hackneyed. They are less interested in reporting on the sport and more interested in advancing whatever muckraking agenda appeals to them at any given moment. Last year, it was offseason recruiting scandals and the supposed corruption of the sport. This year, safety and the need to need to remedy the BCS (which they vaguely allege aided the SEC's dominance) and replace with some egalitarian playoff. In 2007, LSU was the darling. Last year, Bama was the late season darling. This year, it's USC.

The sport isn't broken. It doesn't need ESPN's paternalistic meddling nor its superficial analysis. Just air the damn games.

All that being said, I of course will tune in to the games this fall. LOL.

I'd take that in heartbeat. I only GAF about SEC championships, and back to back would be epic. What happens 30+ days after the season ends doesn't make a hill of beans to me.

1/9 would've been the icing on the cake buy everyone and their dead grandma know it was going to be tough to get Nick 3x in a row. Last season was amazing and there doesn't appear to be any early signs of a drop off. Can't wait.

They lost to themselves on Nov 5, we just happened to be there at the time.

You can count me as one of the people who cares about whether or not LSU actually wins national championships.
