I just watched it again and saw in the credits that it flew its 25th and final mission 69 years ago today, May 17, 1943.

An inspirational movie about brave men.

Love this movie. Haven't seen it in years. Sean Astin's "we think you are trying to escape" joke is one I still tell to this day

When the radio guy had to listen to the crew from the other plane as they went down.....rough stuff.

They better not....Hollywood hands off

All time classic...one of my fav war movies of all time. That scene win the plane "Mother & Country" splits in two always and still gets at me.

They shouldn't remake it, but give it the special edition treatment. Add some CG planes to make the bomb run even MORE epic. Harry Connick Jr. could do a different song with a bigger band, and they could give Sean Astin a little furry sidekick so that bottom turret doesn't seem so depressing.

That it is. And always underrated. You never see anyone mention it when they talk about favorite/best movies.

I'm really upset at myself for having not watched this in so long.

I suppose it's a decent movie even though it's totally inaccurate.

Memphis Belle is very historically accurate. I know because my grandpaw was one of the ground crew that went on the cross country tour with the Belle. He said that the movie was pretty damn close to being a documentary.

With any movie, they will add a few things here and there for dramatic purposes.

Still a great movie, one that I need to rewatch as it's been years.

Little easter egg for anyone that liked the show Farscape. The actor that played the main character, John Crichton, had a tiny part in Memphis Belle. He was on of the members of another Bomber crew, and was at that Big Dance in the early part of the movie.

Just an outstanding ensemble cast.

love this movie. Has a great score/soundtrack. I wish another movie about B-17's would be made.

I was interested in it because my father was a B-17 pilot at the same base as the Memphis Belle with the 91st Bomb Group and was involved in 30 missions over Europe. I recently got a chance to see B-17 in person when it visited the local airport. Pretty awesome to see it fly and hear it thunder over my house for a few days in a row. Also saw it escorted by a P-51 when they left town.

this group does the tours all over the US that includes a B-17, B-24, and P-51. LINK

I was trying to draw cdawg into an argument. There always has to be that one guy who says that "it was good but not historically accurate.".

It's entertainment. If I wanted historical accuracy I watch the discovery channel or TLC.

I just like the thought of a plane being this flying "battleship", with gunners at all types of angles, each covering smaller sections of sky.

From memory, there's the Tail gunner, the 2 "MidSection" gunners, the bottom and top rotating guns, another top gun that's aiming towards 6 0'clock, and 2 guns in the nose.
