from the complaint:

quote:

18. Goodell did not reveal, and, despite repeated requests from among others, Vilma, has never revealed, any evidence purportedly corroborating that a Bounty Program existed, that Vilma participated in any such Bounty Program, and Goodell’s statements.
19. Goodell did not reveal, and, despite repeated requests from, among others, Vilma, has never revealed, any supposed sources purportedly corroborating that a Bounty Program existed, that Vilma participated in any such Bounty Program, and Goodell’s statements.

Well, this is going to be fun! Can't wait to see the NFL finally be held accountable for their actions.

This is great. Vilma truly believes he's innocent without any evidence, so why the frick not? It's getting juicer and juicer.

If the venue isn't changed Goodell better settle out of court.

I don't think they'd be successful in getting a change

Florio notes that, again, Vilma didn't say he never offered money to anyone to hit.

He believes that's Vilma's way of getting around possibly saying something he didn't mean in a normal exaggerated locker room context.

So, I'm not trying to be a dick here. But -- "never paid, nor intended to pay" -- does not actually equate to "A bounty program never existed".

Let's say Vilma is truthful in his statements -- he never intended to pay. But, did he ever OFFER? If he used a "bounty" type payment as enticement to get team mates to play more violent in the hopes of getting recognized - ESPECIALLY if they got more recognition (monetary or otherwise) for cart-offs -- does the fact that he never intended to actually pay up on his offer make this any better?

The truth is most likely somewhere in the middle. Do I think the penalties are too severe -- hell yes. Do I think Roger is simply using the Saints organization to wipe his arse from years of neglected dumps on retired players? Absolutely.

But to think that the Saints are totally innocent in all of this is very narrow-minded.

Duke Williams is a big time plaintiff's attorney, can definitely see why Vilma went with him.
