I knew they ended the regular season on a 10 game winning streak, and now are 5-0 in the playoffs, but I had no clue that they are 26-2 in their last 28 games.

Yet, they still aren't the favorites. I'm guilty of downplaying them every year, only to be wrong.

If they win their 5th title, where would you rank them all time? What Impresses me the most is that they've managed the success over a long period of time.

The "best practice" standard for not just small market, but all NBA franchises.

I think you would compare them favorably with the Magic Lakers and just short of the Jordan Bulls.

They have had incredible longevity - but I think the only two pieces that have stayed the same are Pop and Duncan.

Just think how sickening ESPN would be if that were the Lakers or Heat?

I think there's a real possibility of seeing the Celtics and Spurs this year... with Bosh out the Heat are no guarantee for even the conference finals

I actually like to watch the Spurs, particularly this season. Great chemistry on the court. If they win this year, then it might be a dynasty.

I enjoy seeing the celts success, and to an extent I like seeing Tim Duncan being successful, but Im not a spurs fan. I wouldnt mind if LAC took out SA, but I dont think they will.

I think OKC takes out San Antonio in the west conf finals.

and where do you rank them.
LINK

Link is Boston celtics 1965 with Russell, Heinsohn and Havlichek. They were taken to 7 games by Chamberlain. Celtics then beat the Jerry West Lakers 4-1.
There is a link to the previous season. they won many many years in a row. Cousy, Heinsohn, both from The College of the Holy Cross.
Back then you could have a guy if he was from your town. You just had to give up your number one to do it. Heinsohn was premier and they just snapped him up.

Havlichek, Russell, Frank Ramsey from one of the UK champ teams.
5th title is very nice. & the Admiral was in on it all at the beginning. There was a team when they still had the Admiral, and Ginobli and Parker still had young legs, and Tim was spry, I think those guys could have competed against any team ever.

I lived in the east, which had franchises from day 1 I have seen all the great teams. San Antonio had one of them. The best was Phila 1967, with Wilt, Hall of famer Chet Walker, and Billy Cunningham, and Hall of famer Hal Greer and a solid power forward Jackson. The absolute scoring power of that 1967 team was powerful. Plus Wilt and Jackson inside. Walker and Cunningham were both scoring machines. I think a couple of Celtic teams, Russell/Cousy as noted above.
Magic and Kareen next. Bird/Parish/McHale next.
Timmy and the Admiral would have given them all a run for their money. I think you would all agree that any of those teams could be champ of a playoff with those teams in it.
Another one to throw into the mix would be a Laker team with Wilt, Elgin Baylor, West. They barely got by a fabulous Chicago team with Sloan and Walker, right after he left Phila. Lakers won theirs in OT. Chicago won by 7 or 8, all three. Lakers won on a Jerry West steal from Norm van Lier in the open court, back before Magic brought palming the ball into the league to allow for the absolute fact that a small quick guy can take the ball from a taller player if the taller player actually has to dribble the ball legally. That's ruined the game. It cuts way down on steals in the open court.
I have to name the Chicago Bulls/MJ and Scottie and Detroit Pistons/Isiah/Laimbeer/Dantley.

I know they aren't the favorite in vegas but if you don't think the spurs are the favorite to win you are fooling yourself. They are playing better than anyone right now. They also have BY FAR the best coach in the NBA.

This is a scary good team. Don't think I've ever seen a team this good be this underrated.
