Guest who don't eat onions

How do you handle these people? 99% of everything I cook has onions.
My fiancé and I invite different friends and family over fairly often. In large part because we are a young couple that actually cooks, unlike most young couples we know who wouldn't attempt to boil water, so they eat fast food and microwave pizzas all the time.
Anyways, we invite them over for some good home cooking, something I've just spent hours on, and then the question comes, "does it have onions?".
Why is there always one in every bunch? Now I have to politely keep my mouth shut while watching them slowly picking out every small visible piece of onion, or spend more time trying to fix up another batch without onions.
Do you guys ever have this problem or am I just making too big of a deal out of this?

Just lie. Most of the time they will never notice, especially in Cajun cooking.

I have a family member who cannot abide ANY onions(or spices or seafood). It is a tremendous pain in the arse.
I have started having some bland second dish for him which is in line with what I am serving. Like boil some noodles and open a jar of alfredo sauce. Almost purposely icky, yet he is happy as a clam. Once got him a box of Cane's to snack on while we were enjoying crawfish etoufee and Sensation Salad.

Are they cooked or raw? I'm not a fan of raw onions, but love the taste of cooked onions.

Ask em if they like wearing onions. Then dump the concoction atop their head and ban them from your residence.

i'll accommodate things like food allergies...something that is out of their control. and i'm not going to purposely cook things that i know my guests don't like. but what i won't tolerate is people acting like a child because they don't like some specific ingredient in a dish.
i have a friend that refuses to eat onions, peppers, or mushrooms. trying cooking anything for that dude...
there are certain ingredients that i don't care for but i'd never refuse to eat a dish or pick out the ingredient...that is pretty rude, especially if you are a guest in someone else's house. act like an adult, and just eat it...it isn't going to kill you.

I agree.
And I'd probably lie if they asked because cooked down onions are usually unnoticed to the eye in heave sauces and many dishes.

I'm not a huge fan of onions and rarely cook with them personally, but come on, if you're a guest somewhere just eat them.

Yeah boo I am with you. I don't put them on burgers or sandwiches but if they are cooked into something I will eat it.

When I invite a guest over who I know doesn't like something, I don't prepare what that person doesn't like. It's not like the person is eating with me everyday. The person is my guest.
If the person can tolerate onion powder, use that.
I have some friends who are very eclectic eaters and cook all the time, very well. The wife doesn't eat bell pepper or mushrooms. They do just fine. They simply leave them out of dishes they cook.

Gris I see where you are coming from. But, do these people ever eat soup? How many aren't started with a mirepoix or a trinity? The answer is none.

I'll pretty much eat anything that isn't fish, even if I'm not crazy about it, especially if someone took the time to cook for me.
