My God, how many worms are in those things?

Typically, I keep them up to about 5-6 lbs. THe big ones here tend to be full of worms.

I didn't say anyone was eating them... red drum just moved out of the bay and specs are done until Sept

My uncle shot a 50 pounder one time spearfishing. We very unofficially weighed it and it would have been in the La top 10.

They are full of worms and the meat is tough as nails, on the big ones. The only time I shoot them is on accident, thinking theyre a grouper in the murk. Then I pray they just shake it off and get free

Usually can catch all the monster black drum you can stand in deep passes and also along rocks (i.e. MRGO rocks), I-10 bridge in slidell also full of them. Most folks through them back if any bigger than maybe 20" or so at most.

Yeah, I hate throwing stuff like that back but the meat is virtually worthless.

I've never kept them either. But to be honest I've never caught/seen small ones.
