I downloaded Minecraft before I headed out this morning. Was up bright and early for a 7:30 final. 
I ended up unlocking five achievements in the 5 minute span that I played.
A lot of easy ones like collecting wood from a tree, building a workbench, and making a wooden pickaxe.
Won't be able to play much until tomorrow afternoon, but the interface doesn't seem so bad with a controller given the limited time I had to mess around with it. Never played on PC, but I'm sure it's better suited to keyboard and mouse. That being said, this could have turned out worse. I'll probably find some things to bitch about when I get more time to mess around.

You sill console newbs. The inaccuracy of not having a KB/M, not being able to mode the game, and not having unlimited world sizes make this version a far inferior product than the PC version.

It seems to flow pretty easy with the trigger buttons as mining and placing. I made a wooden pick ax and not sure if I threw it down while trying to get my crafting table back or not or it wore out that quickly from getting the box back but it was gone.
Oh and was already killed by two zombies on fire. Accidentally fell in a hole trying to kill a chicken and not paying attention and there were two at the bottom. I had no sword crafted yet and couldn't move. FML.

No coal miner. Grew up in the country helping my grandfather farm and take care of his cattle. I have always gotten up this early. I'm definitely a morning person. Posted on 5/9/12 at 7:47 am to Lynyrd
So the maps are pretty small right now. No way you put 8 people on a map and have enough of the scarce, non regenerating resources.

I didn't walk one out to see how far it was. Hopefully they will add land size soon.

It looks like they took into account the resource issue and upped them for the map sizes so that 8 people won't be fighting for every little diamond

Well that's a good thing. That makes sense though. Just in the few minutes I played this morning, I saw quite a few iron blocks just below the surface in shallow holes

Not sure what it updated/added. You would maybe have to look on the Mincraft Wiki to find out.
