Finebaum's Interview With Les
Posted by mtntiger on 5/8/12 at 8:34 pm00
I heard PF alluding to his interview on my way home from Greenville this afternoon, but missed the interview itself.
Anyone catch it?
Anyone catch it?
quote:in the other thread they Say PF Is begging to do one. Not sure if he would other than the exposure in a state he recruits. PF basically called miles a fricking moron for 3 years and now wants to make nice after its become obvious that miles is a fricking great football coach.
Message Posted by Choctaw i don't think Les has ever done an interview with PF. i could be wrong though

Les was in Birmingham today speaking at some fundraising luncheon. Finebaum was the emcee and I'm sure they had plenty if conversation.
I did hear him say he thought Miles is actually a pretty smart man, contrary to popular opinion.
Other than that, he didn't say much. I can actually put up with Finebum for a while, but the callers on his show are the lowest pond scum imagineable. What's truly sad is how local that show sounds, even though it's being beamed to a national audience via satellite.

It just went national a year or so ago after being local for a very, very long time so of course it still has a local feel.

I don't know why Les would do it. frick that guy.
There is now exposure to recruits by going on talk radio at 5 PM. A 17 year old with the ability to play SEC football is not going to learn anything by this appearance that he does not already know.

He knows what draws in his listeners, and he's a genius at playing the role on his show. Hell, he's drawn in the Tiger Rant with ease. That's why his show is so big, he plays the role that sells. He's not nearly the douche in real life. By all accounts, he's actually a very quality individual.

I am not a huge PF fan but I have heard him on other stations such as wwl, wist, and others for gest spots, and his attitude is completely different than it is on his show.
he knows how to play to his audience, which is for the most part "lowest common denominator" , but every now and then he'll have a serious guest on and he is a great interviewer.

When I listen to his show you realize how similiar his audience is the local callers to Baton Rouge shows for instance I have the same reaction to Robert from Waterloo as I do to Mike for Plaquemine... I change the channel

At least Robert has an excuse

I tried, I really did, try to listen to his show but I just couldn't, just because I see it mentioned on here so frequently. I had to turn it off after a few minutes.
To answer the OP's question, no I didn't hear it. I have no plans on listening to Finescum's show again.

I have never heard Finebaum's radio show for an entire hour. People have to understand that in Alabama, there are no professional sports teams. Because of this, the citizens only have NASCAR and College programs to get excited about. This in no way a knock on Alabama fans or the people who live in that state. I have family who live in Mobile and have for 40 years but they are Crimson Tide fans.
PF knows that the only interest either involves AU or Uof Alabama. He is the only grocery store in a 25 mile radius per se. His audience wants a bad guy...ie.. Auburn, LSU, Florida. If he played nice with the SEC teams and their coaches and fanbases, then everything would be bland and boring and no one would listen ergo, no sponsors, no show, no employment, nothing.
I am sure if 104.5 ESPN Baton Rouge hired PF, then LSU would be the greatest thing since the smart phone or IPad. Saban would then be the bad guy just like MIDSouth wrestling used to promote.
Any intelligent person knows Coach Miles is a good quality person who is devoted to his school and players. Animosity = nice payday.

Finebaum is a Tenn native and alum. He plays to his audience better than anyone.
