Your dislike of certain sports teams - based on cities or specific teams?

As I was watching the Chicago-Philly game last night, I found myself pulling for the Bulls. I don't really have a dog in the series either way, but I like the Bulls a bit. Then I got to thinking, those Bulls fans are the same ones that I detest so much from the NFL who cheer for the Bears. So that prompted me to also realize that I hate the Eagles fans as well. Now I don't want to see either team win.

What say you?

Great question, brother. It all depends. I hate Boston's people, so I root against Boston teams. I generally like southern people, but most of the college teams I hate the most, of course, are in the SEC.

I'd guess that for most of us, if a team stands in the way of your team, you hate that team even even if they're all made up of monks who practice apostolic poverty and give all their earnings to St. Jude. That's the most important factor.

After that, we're all pretty neutral on teams that aren't really related to our teams in any way unless we hate their fans' attitudes or something.

Varies depending on the team but I can say for certainty that both Boston's & Philly's teams & fanbases can all take a flying leap off a building.

Interesting point, and one I've thought about before. It seems weird to be cheering against a fan's happiness in one sport, but "for" it in another. But I generally hate specific teams, not cities. Hate the Penguins, kind of like the Pirates. Hate Michigan/Red Wings, kind of like the Lions (though not as much after the arrogance they showed throughout this year). Even my favorite team in one sport and arguably my least favorite in another are from the same city (Titans and Predators).

For me there are two kinds of dislike. There is the constant dislike of LSU's rivals like Auburn, Alabama, Arkansas, and Florida.

Then there are teams I dislike depending on the personalities involved in running the team and/or playing for the team. Take for example the NY Jets. I never really disliked the Jets growing up, but I can't stand them right now. I literally cheer for their complete and total failure. Why? I can't stand the loud mouth Rex Ryan, Mike Tennenbaum, GQ Mark Sanchize, overpaid locker-room cancer Santonio Holmes, and now they have added Tim Tebow for good measure. It will be fun watching the self destruction, media whoring, soap opera that is the Jets.
