Appropriate Protocol for Spoilers? (none included)

What's the time frame for discussing plot twists in movies and shows? For example, in the Alien vs. Aliens thread below the OP has a break and then discusses the Alien Queen but posts a spoilers warning before that. I would think that since the movie came out nearly 30 years ago, spoilers would be null and void.
But for more recent movies, what's the latest year we could discuss plot points on here without worrying about people not having seen them yet?

Jersey Tiger will rip you no matter how old.
I don't see a problem taking 3 seconds to type spoiler.
I don't know why Chicken has never added inviso text for spoilers.

Yeah, it would be one of the nicest things they could add on the boards.
