Hubby thinks it's a brown anole



They're not native to LA, but have hitchhiked here on plants shipped in from places like Florida and will probably not survive long if there's a cold winter. Looks kind of like the fence lizard, but its head/legs aren't as fat.

Yes, the page I got that image from said there are several variations in pattern. The bottom one is the female. Lizard love!

They are invasive and slowly moving northward up the east coast. They are killing my native Carolina Anoles as they go as they are bigger and more aggressive.
