The Buccaneers signed former Rutgers DT Eric LeGrand as a UDFA. A very classy move by an organization that I usually hate.

Bucs annouce signing of paralized former Rutgers player Eric LeGrand.

quote:

“Leading up to the draft, I couldn’t help but think that this should’ve been Eric’s draft class,” said Schiano in the statement from the team. “This small gesture is the least we could do to recognize his character, spirit, and perseverance. The way Eric lives his life epitomizes what we are looking for in Buccaneer Men.”

I know it's not a Saints story, and probably should/will be moved to the MSB, but hopefully some of yall enjoy the story before that happens.

As a side note, he will not be paid any money. This was more of a symbolic gesture.

Read that article earlier. The Bucs get props for that handsdown.

I was considering posting this.
But I decided it was more MSB material.

Regardless, it's a very classy move.

Meh. If it weren't his college coach doing it I might be impressed.

The same could be said about Gleason.

But Gleason is a part of the Saints family with this regime at least. Very different shades of grey with that comparison.

I think the bucs did it because it was his former head coach, not necessarily for pr. I've followed the LeGrand story and couldn't be happier for the kid, pr move or not.

I wouldn't put it past message board badasses to make the comparison for real.

They should have used a 7th round pick if they really wanted to put their money where their mouth is.

if they had done that, and then either released him or allowed a retirement (if it is possible) would they have recouped the draft pick in some way, like a supplimental pick?

serious question on it, cause if so - that would have been a truly symbolic way of doing that - and still not been penalized by losing a draft pick.

Other than Gleason had a relationship with the Saints and the Saints are actually doing something more than symbolic for Gleason.

hmmm, think the Saints might sign me to a one day contract? A lot of people say I must have a disability or am nuts. I always wanted to retire a Saint.
