Here are some of my photos from last weekend.
There are many more performance photos in this Flickr album plus other stuff from around New Orleans. I'll probably add more images -- this is just my first edit of the weekend.

I had a cocktail with the sax guy at The Maple Leaf the other day right after they opened. Said his boss might show up later. I didn't hang around for long. :csb:

Nice....what kind of camera do you use and what lens? Also what kind of program do you use to edit?

I used a Canon 7D and a Canon 5D Mark III hanging from BlackRapid straps.
Lenses included a Canon EF 100-400 L zoom, Canon EF 24 1.4 L, Canon EF 24-105 f4 L and a Sigma 50 1.4 (sigmalux).
I used LightRoom for the editing. All these are jpg edits. I haven't had a chance to touch the RAW files yet (2,400 pix over 3.5 days).
For Dr. John and Springsteen, me and my lovely girlfriend were under the boom camera positioned about 50 yards? from mid-stage.
I missed the last half of Dr. John to fetch more water and lemonade for my girlfriend, who had been super cool about allowing me to squeeze us into that crowd in the first place, so I owed her.
I didn't have the 100-400 with me for the Beach Boys, etc., on Friday, but once I saw that it was an "anything goes" security check, hell yeah, I lugged it along for Sunday.
I had brought it down from Kentucky with the idea that it would be useful for only a couple hours at the Lafitte nature preserve.
I had never used the lens all that much, but man, I love it now!
And that 5D Mark III is a Beast of the Night. I couldn't believe the low light photos I got with it.
Sorry for rambling ...

My pics are similar...looks like we were in similar position at times at the Acura stage. These were taken with a Nikon P100-Point and shoot with 26X Optical zoom.
Professor Longhair on top of Acura Stage
Frankie Forde of "Sea Cruise" fame--gettin' REALLY OLD!
Trombone Shorty

THE BOSS!
The kid Springsteen pulled out of the crowd to sing

Good job! And I envy your lightweight camera arrangement. (I think I was hauling about 18 lbs. on Sunday). I was sorry to miss Trombone Shorty but that's the way it goes when there are quality musicians on 5 different stages.
I love your pix of the Amateur Springsteen. Poor kid probably wished he'd had a few voice lessons.
Better him than me!

Yep, he did look nervous, but what the hell--memory that will last a lifetime.
As far as my lightweight camera setup, I've never been a professional, and moved to this type of setup once I switched from film years ago--I don't miss the poundage! And the zoom, stabilization, and other options on these new point-and-shoots are pretty amazing.
Great pics by the way!

That's a good idea.
Wonder if the power of TD.com could find out who this kid in .. then get him the pictures.

Thanks for the compliments.
I will no doubt add some more in a separate album and I'll update here when I do it.
I wish I could be there for the second weekend, but my job requires me to work all this week toward the Kentucky Derby.
Next up for me: I will hopefully photograph the Dandy Warhols twice near the end of May.

Nice collection of glass, there.

Those things are the MF'ing BOMB.
Do you have a recommendation for a bag? I more or less hate the three I have.
I have two gripped Nikons, two speedlights, and about 5 lenses ranging from 70-200 2.8 to 50 1.8.
Any help would be appreciated.

Great work, by the way. I can't believe they let you in with all that equipment. In years past, I've seen people turned away for a simple point and shoot.

Hey LuckySo-n-So,
Thanks. I felt lucky myself. I had read posts from photographers who had frequently gone to Jazzfest with 70-200s but indicated that it might be a problem if you were near some stages. That didn't seem to be the case Friday or Sunday. Big zooms were everywhere.
I had to try getting the 100-400 in, and the sun's angle gave me plenty of afternoon light to work with at the Acura stage.
The security folks cared only to ask "you're not shooting video, are you?" I didn't point out that everyone with a cellphone could be guilty of that!
I use Domke bags. My olive green F2 bag looks like a canvas duffle bag -- stealthy and downright awesome. It's not a huge bag but in conjunction with BlackRapids, you can haul a lot of stuff.
Domke
If you want to carry your whole kit, get the F-1X bag.
