I would bet it was close to Super Bowl levels. The UCL Final will far surpass both.

Yeah, if you ignore any contribution from other continents.

Did you read his post? He specifically says:

It's a weekday in America, but a weeknight in Europe I can easily see 650m.

I read it as that's merely when and where it was happening, but I don't know.

Well according to this site, looks like a little over 1 million people watched the match live on ESPN. That wouldn't count WatchESPN.com #s. That's not too bad for any middle of a weekday sporting event.

That's excellent for a game in commie Europe, featuring a bunch of queer foreigners flopping around like a bunch of pussy fairies.

I would like to thank ESPN for promoting their socialist homosexual agenda yesterday.

If he did mean what you say, then it's just poor sentence structure.

I'm not typically a violent person, but some of these tweets on this deadspin article make me want to initiate sweeping sterilizations

The internet just gives mouthbreathers a bigger bandstand for their fricking moronic opinions.

I knew which article you were referring to before clicking on it.. I got disgusted when I saw it on reddit.

Me too. The UCL Final is now a weekend event because of the US ratings from the ManU/Barca match in 2009. UEFA might suck, but they aren't stupid.

The Premier League is pretty global. In the next tv deal (not the one kicking in the next season) the money coming in from outside the UK will make up the majority of the income. I don't think 650m is unrealistic if we're comparing to what other major sporting events pull.

Homophobic comments definitely make you #ballsohard

This one was pretty solid:

No, ESPN it's soccer not football. Football is played by men. #stupideuropeans

Saw that article earlier today and "regular white people espn" is my new favorite phrase.

I wonder how people with that level of an IQ can successfully create a Twitter account. Or even type. Or even breathe.

Let's revoke all three of those privileges.

It certainly is. The only thing I'm struggling with is that it would have brought in only a 15% less viewership than the world cup.
