Terrance Copper was here during the 2006 and 2007 seasons. Always liked his hustle on special teams and was pretty much a sure thing to catch anything thrown his way.

Giving some love to Jeff Blake. One of the prettiest deep ball throwers I've ever seen. He was pretty much a Godsent after all the Bobby Joe's, Danny Wuerfful and who ever else we had. Had us at 7-4 before getting injured and giving way to AB.
I always felt bad for him. A 6th round pick that was always given up on for "better" prospects. Seriously, he was always replaced by the whose who of QBs.
Released from the Jets because they signed Boomer Esiason.
Replaced in Cincinatti by Akili Smith.
Replaced in New Orleans by Aaron Brooks.
Replaced in Baltimore by Kyle Boller.
Replaced in Arizona by Josh McCown

Wow, he was only 32 when he was traded to the Jets. He played 5 more years after that.

Dave Wilson #18, Finks picked him as the heir apparent to Archie. He was quite emblematic of so much of the Saints history to me... hope. But unfulfilled hope. First, he was taken with a 1st Rd Supplemental Draft pick. Was really that good of a prospect? I always questioned that. Then he had serious injuries right off the bat that virtually derailed his progress and career.
1987 story-

``The knee injury I got my second year held me back because I really felt they were ready to give me the starting job over Manning. Instead, I missed the season with that preseason injury.
``From that, I believe my arm injury came about. I wasn`t throwing properly and getting my legs into everything, and the shoulder problems developed.
``A lot of things happened to me in my first five years with the Saints. But then Jim Mora came in as head coach last year, and it was a fresh start for me.`

Unfortunately for him Mora brought along his USFL QB Bobby Hebert that was a fan favorite from the start.
Years and years... friggin decades of hoping. That was the Black Ages. Now that we are in the Golden Age when late round draft picks and UDFAs turn into stars here. Enjoy and appreciate in peeps!

Meachem here the longest, part of the Golden Age SB winning team. Plenty of props. Methinks he'll have his biggest year ever in SD.
His most memorable play for me-
Never was a big Everett fan. It was the downside of his career (didn't play again after NOLA) and the flaming out of the Mora era as reflected by his 17-30 record as a starter.
His most noteworthy play-
He did get a MBA after football and start his own investment firm.
Kilmer was quite a story for an expansion pick. He was 5th in Heisman voting for UCLA in 1960. Drafted by the Niners he even played some RB. He was the guy at QB for the first four years of the Saints. He wasn't that good (47/62 TD/INT) but was scrappy as hell. He was one of the most notorious drinking and carousing on Bourbon St. players ever. He had his real success after NOLA leading Washington to a 50-23 record in 8 years.

A day late with posting for #16
Lance Moore went undrafted in the 2005 NFL Draft and was originally signed by the Cleveland Browns who later released him. He then signed with the Saints and was placed on their practice squad. He earned his 1st start on October 14, 2007 against the Seahawks. Ever since then he's been a permanent fixture in the Saints' offense.

Drafted in the 3rd round by the Titans in the 2005 NFL Draft. Was later released and signed by the Bengals and again released. Signed with the Colts and again released on September 11, 2008. But then he signed with the Saints on October 16, 2008 and has found a home with the Black and Gold. He's made a name for himself as a special teams ace. Before Darren Sproles arrived in the Big Easy, Roby was the primary kickoff returner and during that magical '09 season one of the more memorable plays he made came in week 10 against the Rams. The Saints seemed to be struggling in this game and couldn't seem to open the game wide open. Starting the 2nd half with the game tied at 14, Roby returned the 2nd half kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown as the Saints went on to win the game 28-23 and improve to 9-0 on the season.

pretty excited to be at 15 days to an actual game, even if scrubs and no-names fighting for roster spots. Being the opening HOF game maybe we can see a whole quarter of starters.

This is why I'm excited about the game I'll get to go to. It's on my birthday against the Texans, and it's the next to last game of the preseason. All starters first half, maybe a good chunk of the 3rd quarter. Almost like a regular season game

Kerry Collins played all of 7 games for the Saints. He went 2-5-0 and threw for 94 completions on 191 attempts for 1202 yards with 4 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Lets just say Collins and Burbon street were not a good combination.
I have it on good authority though that this guy however will be the next great Saints player. We have all been warned!

Karl Sweetan, 1968
78 attempts 27 completions for a reverse-Brees completion rate of 34.6%, but yes he did throw 1 TD pass!, unfortunately 9 INTs make for a 11.5% int rate, the guy even started 3 games. Of course none won but did tie 1
To top it off he wasn't only bad but a scumbag as well. He died in 2000 at age 57. The focus of his obituary was a scandal in which he was trying to sell his Rams playbook to the Saints in 1972.
