Bayou Manchac in Baton Rouge

Has anyone ever fished Bayou Manchac in Baton Rouge. I play a lot of gollf at Santa Maria and Bayou Manchac looks like is should be full of blue gill and Sac-a-lait. Has any body ever put in a pirouge or bateau and fished it? I would love to with Crickets and shiners.
