What Houston Mexican Restaurant has the best free chips and salsa,
Must be the free stuff you get when you sit down. Also, in the 6-10 loop.

There are probably several hundred Mexican joints in the 610 loop with free chips and salsa
I can't imagine the quality is that different between them, it's just tortilla chips and salsa

I had Ruchi's at 3am last Saturday night when I was in town. I'm sure I wasn't caring how good it tasted at that point though.

Lol, que?

I judge Mexican restaurants by their salsa. There's a huge difference between restaurants.

I judge by their entrees, but whatever works for you

Well, obviously it's not the only thing I judge them on, but IMO, salsa is as important as an entree when judging a restaurant.

I also judge a mexican restaurant by it's salsa, that is why I ask. If it is not free, then it is not the right restaurant I am looking for. Tacos a-go-go so far has the best salsa I have had in town, but you have to pay for it.

Mainly, it has to be free because I eat like 3 or more bowls of salsa. I do want to have to pay for refills, especially if it is good.

Also, on a related note, how does the Nimfa's here (original) compare to the one in BR?

Taco truck @ West Alabama Ice House, salsa[s] are "free." Best tacos in the city.

That narrows it down to infinity.

I'm a fan of the salsa at Guadalajara. Lots of cumin. Green salsa at original Ninfas is good too.

To me, the original is a lot better than any of the others.

original Ninfas on Navigation in Houston is a must stop for me.

story goes that is the original mama Ninfas house and everything there is homemade. after she died the family sold the business to investors who chained it out and changed some things, however the family was able to keep the original on Navigation. You would think its two different restaurants if you go to another one.

Def worth a stop, homemade tortillas, they also use everclear in their margaritas. damn im hungry

I have to agree, nothing like cold fresh spicy salsa. I went to uncle Julio's in Dallas and was unimpressed, too warm and "smoky"
