Prior the Jones - Evans fight, the UFC issued a press release calling the Jones family the most athletic in America.

Aruthur Jones (eldest child) -- 2010 5th round pick of Baltimore Raves. Backup DE.

Jon Jones (middle child) -- UFC light heavyweight champ

Chandler Jones (youngest child) -- Former Syracuse DE. Projected early round pick in 2012 NFL draft.

Personally, I would agree that the Matthews have got to be up near the top. Although the Mannings are clearly the best quarterbacking family ever, I don't know if I'd include them in a discussion of "most athletic."

What says you?

Depends on how you define athleticism. They're definitely right up there for current American families.

There's probably a litter of tiny Chinese gymnastic kids who would win the worldwide title though....

The Plumlee family will have three guys drafted into the NBA, keeping in mind the NBA has only two rounds.

The Sutter Family

Six brothers: Brent, Brian, Darryl, Duane, Rich and Ron, reached the NHL in the 1970s and 80s. Four brothers, Brian, Duane, Darryl and Brent, have gone on to become coaches and general managers as well.

Collectively, the Sutter brothers played over 5000 games and captured six Stanley Cups. The second generation of Sutters are beginning to reach the NHL, as Brandon Sutter and cousin Brett Sutter are now members of the Carolina Hurricanes, with Brandon serving as an alternate captain and Brody being drafted by the Hurricanes in 2011.

You can't really measure athletic ability, so you have to really go on accomplishments. The Mannings are pretty tough to beat.

What? You must certainly can. Now if you want to argue the definition of athleticism, that's a different story.

Agreed.

Extensive list of highly successful pro and college players, spanning more than just three brothers.

Are we discussing siblings only? Are father/son combos eligible?

The Alamors were pretty damn legit. They were especially athletic for baseball players.

The Browner brothers should be under consideration.

quote:

Has there ever been a football family to match the Browners? Of the six Browner brothers, three have reached the NFL—Ross and Jimmie Jr., both with the Cincinnati Bengals, and Joey, a rookie with the Minnesota Vikings. Two more are still in college, and they will likely become pros, too. Ross and Joey were first-round draft choices. Five of the brothers were high school All-Americas in football. The exception was Keith, a standout linebacker at Southern Cal the past three seasons, who didn't play football his senior year. He was All-State in basketball instead. The Browners have manned both sides of one of college football's greatest rivalries, sending three brothers, Ross, Jim and Willard, to Notre Dame and two, Joey and Keith, to USC. The Browner trophy room includes the Lombardi and Outland awards as well as plaques and medals representative of UPI, AP, Sporting News and Playboy All-America teams.

id go Matthews....

In my opinion, LB is the most athletic position in football.

To be great, you need to be fast, big enough to tackle well/consistent, have good hands, be smart...

Matthews have three LB, and a O-lineman that may be the best ever.

Matthews is impressive for sure. If the Football playing Jones brothers were better I'd give it to them, I like the variety.
