I was wondering what the best route is for preparing for the exam? How is the Becker CPA classes at UNO? Anyone ever do the Becker CPA classes?

I'm doing Becker self study. Have passed REG and BEC on my first attempt. Taking AUD in 3 weeks and FAR in August. If you don't want to sit in classes and have the self-motivation to study, I would highly recommend doing the Becker self study

I did Becker through my university (DePaul in Chicago). It worked pretty well for me. They did a great job preparing me. I passed all four on the first try and am a registered CPA in Illinois.

We had a semester of classes at my school - Northern Iowa. We used all Wiley materials. I also bought the Gleim CD for extra practice questions.

Passed all four exams first try in July 2010.

My advice: practice questions. Over and over and over.

I passed all 4 the first try with Becker. I did the classroom for awhile, but the self study ended up being better for my schedule. Make sure you do all of the homework and practice problems. That way you can handle each type of problem come exam time. Just study your arse off and you will pass.

Becker self study is fine, and you can get away with using like a one-year old version off of ebay if you don't feel like ponying up for it.

The problem with doing that, kfizzle, is they have introduced an international component to the exams (IFRS). So the old stuff (pre 2011) may not work, especially in the FAR section.

IDK a guy in my office just did that and he passed all 4 parts, that's the only reason I suggested it. As far as I'm aware, the IFRS section is relatively minor.

It is..for the most part. I think I missed all those questions and still passed anyway.
