select:
- starting 9
- DH (can be any player)
- 3 starting pitchers
- 3 relievers

Base your selections on what they did at LSU and not necessarily success they had in the pros (for example, Brian Wilson shouldn't be on anyone's list because he was just decent at LSU as a starter.)

1B: Eddy Furniss
2B: Todd Walker
3B: Russ Johnson
SS: Brandon Larson
C: Micah Gibbs
OF: Jared Mitchell
OF: Mikie Mahtook
OF: Lyle Mouton
DH: Joey Belle

SP: Ben McDonald
SP: Anthony Ranaudo
SP: Brett Laxton

RP: Matty Ott
RP: Doug Thompson
RP: Rick Greene

If we are going by power alone, I agree, (yes, I know a lot of the players I picked were based on that). But, I think Gibbs was a better all around catcher.

Wow. That batting order would be a nightmare. Maybe:

Walker
Belle
Mahtook
Larson
Mitchell
Johnson
Furniss
Mouton
Gibbs

I'm not a baseball guy, so that's probably way off strategically. But just thinking about facing that lineup, I'm like, "Wait, where's the bottom of the order? Who the hell do I pitch around?"

I dont know why anyone would have Ranaudo as their starting pitcher. He had one good year, and it came in the same year where Louis Coleman had a better statistical year.

Ranaudo at his best was better than Coleman. Same reason I included Ott, yeah he fell way off after his freshman year, doesn't deny how amazing that freshman year was though.

how so?

Coleman was arguably the most important player for LSU his last 2 years.

In 2009, he had more innings pitched than Ranaudo, more wins, fewer walks, better WHIP, better ERA, etc

I mean I love Ranaudo, but come on. When Coleman has him beat on ERA, wins, and innings pitched, it's kinda hard to say Ranaudo was better.

And I'm not even going to use the argument that Coleman had a sub 3.00 ERA in the majors last season and Ranaudo is still in A ball

Why not Raph Ryhmes for what he's done at the plate? There's much better all around competition these days, and what what Raph had done with the BBCOR is just ridiculous.

I agree with this... Ben McDonald, Doug Thompson, and Louis Coleman should be on everyone's list as well.

If Coleman didn't come back for his senior year LSU would not have won the CWS.

He got himself a championship ring, improved his draft stock, and eventually made it pro.

I could probably do without all his strikeouts, but he did manage to be on fire in the CWS that year.
