What is the name of the snow balls being sold in grocery stores claiming to be New Orleans Style Snow Balls? Apparently, they're just as good as straight from the stand.

Half of the snoball experience is walking to the snoball stand and eating it there outside. It's a community experience. Why would someone want to buy preshaved ice that, due to laws of thermodynamics, in no way can be as good as freshly saved ice?

That is for those that have no one to talk to

To top it off, the instructions on the container say to microwave it for 10 seconds. That's just not right.

Huh? When I was a child and spoke like a child and ate like a child, we would go as a big group - The UPT 13 - get a snoball and chill out together. Do people really take their snoballs to go now?

A child has nothing better to do. They probably went to the stand with their friends as well. I can't say I have ever seen adults standing around the snoball stand talking to strangers. I am sure you can spin this to show what is wrong with society though.

How are they prepackaging and/or replicating freshly shaved ice?

We need to go for a snowball one time. Lester Earl, Stout, VOR, and us two. It could be a real solid community experience.

Got room for a few others? I agree with the solid community experience.

A small nieghborhood snowball stand in Tippytoe made bank for the owners(two old ladies) when the season was on. A block from two schools, three from two other schools.

I'm in.

I have the perfect place in mind. On Jackson Ave. by the intersection with Freret, there is a snoball stand and food vendor called "Bread of Life." It might have changed names recently, though, to something like "Joy's Snack Box." Anyway, regardless of the name, next to it is a lovely little African American church named Back to the Bible Church. We could worship together and share snoballs in a part of NOLA few on TD have ever loitered.

I've spent a significant time in several New Orleans housing projects. I ride my bicycle through that part of town every week. Though I've never been to Bread of Life, I will try it before two weeks have passed.

Sadly, I just read a story on NOLA.com that a person was shot and killed near Jackson and Carondolet. I biked that corner earlier today on my way to see the boats at the river front.
