Best Reggae Music

Besides Bob Marley, who are some of your favourite reggae artists and songs? I have been trying to find some reggae to download, but I don't know to much about reggae artists much less which ones are good. TIA

Yea, I consider Peter Tosh a much better musician/artist then Bob Marley. Bob had the better songs, but Peter helped make them quite good.
Also, check out the Black Seeds. Reggae has turned more into a surfer rock. Matisyahu is good and can be considered reggae.

They have 'reggae' type songs and sometimes use reggae instruments. I love both of those bands but do not classify them as reggae. More surfer rock, which people think is reggae now.

Yes because there are so many people making modern Reggae music. I get tired of listening to the same old music and like to expand my playlists on occasion. These bands play some good jams.

Thats the main problem, is that as a mainstream form of music, reggae is dying. A lot of people will say true reggae died with Peter Tosh. The Blacks Seeds are similar to Pepper and Slightly Stoopid, but deal almost primarily in reggae. Plus, the older stuff from the Black Seeds have Bret McKenzie as the lead singer, like in the song I posted. Awesome.

It's the same with other genres as well. Delta blues, for instance, is all but gone. Moden blues has rock infusion and is much more technical. I would never not listen to modern blues because of that.

maybe I sounded a bit harsh...what I meant is that those bands are the first things a lot of people list as reggae after Bob Marley.
They're not terrible, but they sound insanely similar to a ton of other bands who are all trying to capitalize on the fame of Brad Nowell. But I guess Reggae has always been a somewhat similar sounding Genre.

Also, a lot of modern bands deal in Dub, not to be confused with Dub-step. Dub is a sub-genre of reggae, where as surf rock or ska is more of a sub-genre of rock, with bands like Sublime and Slightly Stoopid.

I wouldn't call it reggae, but the stuff state radio (former dipatch member Chad ustrom) is putting out has some good reggae sounds and is overall good music.
