Front page on ESPN.com
Talks about drug problems at all schools but mainly Oregon. A few anonymous players even admitted to smoking before the rose bowl.
Oregon Ducks dont deny the drug culture

TCU's marijuana problem is just one of many among elite college programs

How in the hell did this guy get such specific information?

I thought "Higher Education" was pretty clever.

Some schools catch it and act accordingly and suspend the players for a key game, LSU.
Others like Fla and Bama sweep it under the rug and handle it internally.

it was synthetic weed and has nothing to do with the TCU incident. LSU players smoke weed

nah. Apparently there's only dirt brown Mexican weed in Louisiana, so your players are forced to smoke fake plastic fiberglass stuff

Why do people care if college athletes smoke weed? It's really not a big deal and I don't see why it's a "problem".

As a daily toker I agree. I just hope Oregon players limit the smoking to the offseason. I always felt a tad slower when I smoked during the season when i played sports in high school.

THIS...kind of.

It's an issue because a) its against the law (I am against this, but its still the law) and b) it's against NCAA rules.

with all the problems in this country, it's a fricking joke that such a big deal is made out of weed. Legalize it and get it over with.

When I attended FSU in the early 2000's I remember visiting a house near the stadium that was basically a smoking house for the football players. It even came complete with a stripper pole in the middle of the living room.

I smoked with DJ Hall back when I was still in Tuscaloosa. He certainly wasn't the only Bama player at the time who liked the chronic.

Recently, the researchers of a study in Sports Medicine wrote that athletes claim "smoking cannabis before play helps them focus better" and increases their creativity, and prior studies have found use among athletes to decrease anxiety, fear, depression and tension.

Interesting.

I know A LOT of competitive cross-country runners that smoke a little herb before they run. Usually through a vaporizer. It keeps them calm and allows their mind to wander while they run and ignore the physical toll the long distance takes on their bodies.

I would smoke before HS basketball games. It slowed the game down for me.

I could see that for sativa strains...normally with shitty weed all one wants to do is sit on a couch

It just makes so much sense to me now when I see fluid players like Vick, P. Peterson, etc who use their moves so creatively...the jukes, the spins, the seemingly haphazard play...weed could explain it all.
