It took Jones 10 minutes in a press conference to win me over

Albeit, I'm an LSU fan so I wanted a reason to support the guy. But I was a vocal critic before this hire and if he can win me over this quickly, I certainly thinks this bodes well on the recruiting front moving forward.

I know there are other threads, but I just wanted to eat a little crow. We may not be very good next year, but I think this hire could end up being a slamdunk. He was about as impressive as anyone I can remember yesterday.

I thoroughly enjoyed the press conference. Made me want to go get tickets for next season.

you guys are easy. I expected no less from Jones. Afterall he learned from the Master Motivator. I just hope he brings the whole package, i.e. recruiting, x's and o's, and it all translates to a solid consistant winning program. I'm glad that so many are inspired by his demeanor and charisma, its exactly what's needed to get the fans supporting the program, so I hope more fans are like you and less are skeptical like me.

He will be able to recuit. Every high school coach in the state likes him. Not sure of his X's and O's though.

No thanks. The former players who sat on the sidelines and/or sat on their hands in the PMAC over the past decade-and-a-half can have my family's season tickets.

I spent time supporting the program when they didn't simply because of who the coach was. Now they can spend time supporting it since "their guy" is in there.

I detest the way these same players who came out in support of Jones did nothing beyond showing up at Alumni Weekend during the post-Brown Era. If they withheld support-and its obvious they weren't in the media defending, supporting, or promoting LSU Hoops-that's fine.

I won't begrudge them that. I just hope they don't begrudge me withholding mine.

I'm sure between the Krewe de Clarence & Collis, they will drum up millions in donations and buy plenty of season tickets. They won't miss me a bit.

I can assure you I won't miss them, seeing as how I never saw them when times were tough.

Jones is gonna have a lot of help from all over the state funnelling in talent to LSU. He has contacts that will be drumming up interest in their respective hometowns to get guys to LSU.

This is the support that TJ did NOT have. Im sure you all know this, but its worth mentioning that those AAU, HS, and tournament coaches and parents are behind this hire. This is good for LSUs program.

Hell, it cant be much worse!

If you want to generalize, fine. But investigate Shaq's contributions to the basketball programs and come back and eat some crow later.

His talk about getting out to high school coaches and AAU coaches and using the word "we" in regard to getting the program back. I think it showed not just an enthusiasm to be here, but an enthusiasm about being a part of the community.

For people saying things like we could win press confrence title, you do realize that speaking ability and motivation is huge on both the recruiting trail and keeping your team ready to play.

There are sure some debby downers who really dont want to like the guy because the politics, but do you know why all those people wanted him as coach? Because they thought he would lead the team back to prominence. They saw a guy who can get the support of the players, fans, and recruits and help move this team in the right direction.

So say that he hasn't proven anything yet, but I say he has proven a lot to me. People like him, coaches support him, and he gets the most out of his players. To me that is a pretty damn good start before a single game is played.

What is continuing to be upset and pissy about it going to do since he's here already? If you want to be miserable with the prospects of the future of our program, you are free to do so. I won't, however.

Then explain Les Miles. Fans claim hes not any of these things, yet he can recruit. If he wasnt a good motivator he wouldnt average 10 wins a year. I dont think ones public speaking ability has anything to do with results on the field, or court.

I actually think Les is endearing in interviews. Much more entertaining than the overwhelming majority of college coaches and they all recruit well.
