I have not been following to much this season other than scores. Obviously the record is 16-19. I know Coach Robichaux has not done to much over the past five years or maybe even seven years that gets you excited. No super regionals since i can't remeber how long.
So to you cajuns out there that really follow or have some input, tell me what gives here? I see nothing about the staff being in the hotseat or fans that are tired of mediocre baseball. To me it just seems that we can do better here as well (note football and basketball improvements). Robichaux seems to get a pass, why?

He took them to a College World Series. Plus he has beaten LSU. Easily has another 10 years in their good graces.

Coach Rob will retire upon death.
He's the saint of men's baseball in Lafayette, he made it to the CWS once like a decade ago. That's good enough for them.
I've been saying the same thing for ages, but sadly their softball team overshadows the baseball squad.

Maybe my expectations for the priogram are to high.
Here are some stats from the past ten years. I got these off the ragincajuns.com website.
Wins 361 losses 239 (.602), four trips to the regionals (2002, 2005, 2007 and 2010), no trips to the super regionals.
And over the last four years we are averaging right at 31.5 wins. If this year is down, which it looks to be, I think people should start paying attention the next two years and forget about the CWS in 2000.

We were in a regional two years ago where we beat Rice and had a great game against Texas.
There's high expectations every year and we are consistently near the top of the conference and make regionals regularly.
If people want to replace Robe, they need to find a guy who can consistently top that and I don't know who that guy is.

Robe will retire/leave after Austin leaves. He signed an extension to stay here for the duration.

Well since the athletic program is mediocre at best, shouldn't you be happy with a mediocre team?

LSU goes on a hot streak and their fans are back to trying to belittle everyone. Go back to wanting to fire your National Championship winning coach.

U mad you couldn't get into a real school, bro?

Just for a reference, though. Let's look at what we're dealing with.
Catcher - Chris Sinclair (Sr.) he's hurt though so it's been Adam Todd who hadn't played baseball in 2 years.
1st base - Chase Compton (So.)
2nd base - Jace Conrad (Fr.)
3rd base - Tyler Girouard (Fr.)
SS - Ryan Leonards (So.)
LF - Daniel Nichols (Sr.)/Almann Snowdwn (Fr.)/Nick Jones (Fr.)
CF - Brian Bowman (Sr.)/ Dominick Francia (So.) hurt though
RF - Dylan Butler (Fr.)
Starting pitchers:
Jordan Nicholson (Sr.)
Chris Griffit (Jr.) - first year with the team
Jordan Harrison (Jr.) - first year with the team
Joe Zimmerman (Sr.) - been hurt most of the year
Austin Robichaux (Fr.)
Main Relief pitchers:
Caleb Kellogg (So.)
Matt Hicks (So.)
Cord Cockrell (Fr.)
Derek Howell (Jr.) - first year with the team
Then you have Chase Traffica who would have been a weekend starter or the first guy out of the pen in the middle innings out with Tommy John.
You also have Michael Strentz, one of our 2 catchers on the roster, out with Tommy John. That led to us pulling Adam Todd out of the classroom to backup Sinclair.

Dylan butler is legit.. been watching him for a long time, he'll get better as he matures too..

4-2 3.23 ERA in 8 appearances, 6 starts.
Yeah Dylan Butler has a strong bat. He needs to raise his average a bit but he hits the ball with power and looks like he has a bright future.

Last I saw his ERA was around .60
He's dominant.
