Can we just get those two front office jobs and be done with it?

Holy cow. We've praised this FO all this time, and now we freak out over this?

You've gotta admit if they're just gonna put Kromer in charge during his suspension, then it makes sense just to do that in the first place.

Not surprising, but it is a bit disappointing.

i don't get why it's so disappointing. it's only temporary. SP is the head coach... not bringing in some big name backup is probably for the best in the long run.

It seems like this decision was made because it will be the easiest transition for when Payton gets back

I really don't care if Rita is wearing the headset and chomping on Juicy Fruit. Just get Drew signed PRONTO!!

This

Vitt is HC through the preseason games, then he's gone?
You bring a new guy in for 2 months...then he's gone and Vitt is back?

Just give the job to Kromer to begin with

It's disappointing because I'd rather put someone in charge who isn't gonna be suspended. I'm over the Parcells thing. I didn't want a big name. I just didn't want the guy who's incompetent at his current job.

I'd rather have Kromer.

What exactly do you think Vitt will be doing during preseason? Getting Kromer ready. It's not like he'll hand the keys over to him before week 1 with an empty tank and say "here you go".

This isn't a big deal.

Everyone is over thinking this way too much. Just like Payton was doing when thinking of bringing in Parcells.

I think this could work if we are able to win with what SP has put in place, which is why i say its hubris on his part. He's probably a little too confident.

If however this team meets any kind of adversity, such as a 2-3 game skid, or injury(s) to critical player(s), it will unravel very quickly without a strong leader... and a revolving door in leadership is the worst thing under those circumstances.

This is where i think it would have really helped to bring someone in for the long haul.

Not saying he's perfect. But we aren't going to be in a bind when the season starts. Like Loomis said, this is the same setup they had last year when CSP was out. At least he has SOME grasp of what's involved.

Definitely dissapointing news, but I guess an outsider was going to be too difficult to manage.
The problem is, if you would havce put Kromer in charge in the first place, you have that consistent head coach and you might even be able to distance yourself from the scandal talk.
Now you hand the keys to someone who was involved and he's facing a suspension of his own.
I remember reading that Kromer didn't really want the gig for the whole season, so I guess that's why he's only filling in weeks 1-6.
Oh well.

Yeah, fwiw, I agree we're gonna be fine regardless. Too often people try to turn football into brain surgery. Good teams win, shitty ones don't. The Saints are good.

I admit, my reaction to this is largely because I can't stand Vitt

So half of the people here think Vitt sucks at his job?
Bad vibes?
Ugly grand-pa looking dude?

We completly overhaul the LB corp which shows he had shite to work with.
Seemed to fill in well for CSP.
Players seem to have no problem with him.
CSP wants him to coach the last 13 games and thats good enough for me.
He's thought about this issue more than you bozo's and decided to put the 2012-13 season on Vitts shoulders.
I don't get the hand ringing without something concrete to base it on.

Moving on and glad they have found their guy.
