...which tells me that if LSU makes the right hire they can put him into this class after all.
That's encouraging.
Does anybody know who these two McDonald's All-Americans are that Josh Pastner can supposedly bring with him if he gets the job?
Here are the McDonald's All-Americans who haven't signed yet...
Amile Jefferson Friends' Central (Wynnewood, Pa.) PF Undecided
Tony Parker Miller Grove (Lithonia, Ga.) PF Undecided
Anthony Bennett Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.) PF Undecided
Shabazz Muhammad Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) SF Undecided
Devonta Pollard Kemper County (De Kalb, Miss.) PF Undecided

Being from Memphis, the Pastner option just isn't intriguing to me. He's an excellent recruiter, but I don't see how his current connections could help LSU.

I would think 1 of them is PF Shaq Goodwin who has already signed with Memphis. More than likely whomever LSU hires will attempt to flip some of the players he had signed at his previous job.

Tigerbait reporting Pastner isn't a candidate and isn't interested.

Agree about Pastnor. He'll get the fans in somewhat of a frenzy but I think he's tremendously overrated at this point. He can recruit but is it just more of the same with Memphis or is it actually his doing? The point is does the fact he does it at Memphis mean he can do it at LSU? The landscapes around the 2 programs are not the same. Is his coaching worth hiring or is it all based on recruiting? Honestly if I'm Pastnor I don't leave Memphis for LSU. Not in basketball. Not unless there are other factors involved around the Memphis program.

I know he's interested.
Remember stating they are not interested means squat in coaching searches.
Most recent would be Corey Raymond.

Pastner is a candidate for this job.
That you can bank on.
Whether he gets the job or not is a question, but he's a candidate. If he doesn't get the job his candidacy will be vigorously denied, because that's how it works.
And I doubt he steals kids he's already signed at Memphis, but he's got a JUCO wing named Geron Johnson from Garden City CC who averaged 19.6 a game this year and a wing from Oak Hill Academy named Damien Wilson who are both listed as commitments but not signees. Those guys might follow him here, though what we really need is post players.
Neither one of those kids are McDonald's All-Americans, though, I don't think.
But kids do follow coaches. There is no question that whoever LSU hires will have access to players beyond the little recruiting list Trent Johnson was operating with until last week.

Well, now we know why he heard so much more from Baylor than from LSU during his recruitment

Im pretty sure they are recruiting Tony Parker.

Yeah, no kidding.
It sucks to see LSU coaches get outworked for recruits they're obviously high on. That very seldom happens with Miles, and it really doesn't happen that often with Mainieri (his problem is that his guys get drafted high and take the money). With Johnson it happened constantly.

My thoughts on Pastner are long-term. Not some short-term Gathers fix that I'm over quite frankly.

There is no long-term in basketball. Trent Johnson taught us that. He was talking about long-term while he wasted the chance to put the program on the map in the short and medium term by camping out at Country Day to recruit and taking transfers from other schools.
Whoever we get is going to need to immediately change our fortunes on the recruiting trail. I couldn't give a damn if the guy coaches like Phil Jackson if he recruits like Trent.

Long-term as in next recruiting cycle. Not tomorrow.

Not to get off topic, but do yall think the new coach will clear house with players(as much as possible) and coaches?

Trent said in his press conference he was bringing in the two guys who were on his staff at LSU, so will be a whole new staff.

This fricking quote makes you look like the shallow LSU fan that you are. The statement is unfair to the Country Day kids that we signed. They were both rated pretty high coming out of high school and were both in state guys which everyone wants us to lock down. Hell Derenbecker was a top 100 player and only didn't pan out because he likes to get drunk like everyone else in this forum. He will probably do well at Dayton.
It is easy to be a sideline coach and talk about Trent's recruiting. He was did a pretty good job of getting kids to LSU the problem is they didn't pan out. In my own opinion he is a better recruiter then he is a coach. He did sign a McDonald's all american last year and Anthony Hickey. I am glad that he is gone though so we can find something else to bitch about since our fans are so critical at the first sign of unsuccessfulness.

I haven't heard that rumor about Pastner bringing two McDonalds AA players, but Geron Johnson will not be playing anywhere next year. Guy got arrested and kicked off his juco team and out of school.
I imagine Shaq Goodwin is one they are referring to and Tony Parker is the other. Shaq is signed, Parkier is not, but Memphis is not even leading for him.
